FAQs

  • Do we pick the location?
Lighting is one of the most important aspects when choosing a location, and I have some perfect spots that will capture just that! Some things to think about in choosing a location is if you want downtown/urban, open fields, flowers, something classic, greenery, etc. You can see an example of my favorite locations if you click on the Locations tab at the top. If you have a spot like family land or something sentimental let me know and I can do some research to see if we can make it work.
  • What is the turnaround time?
My standard turnaround time is 2 weeks. However, I strive to have them delivered prior to that time. If your gallery will be past the 2 weeks, I will contact you and keep you in the loop.
  • What is a mini session?
A mini session is getting just a taste of what a session could look like. It is a short session and includes a few images, or you can purchase the full edited gallery. I only offer family mini sessions a few times a year usually around spring and fall times, so please make sure you are on my email list so you are in the know! A milestone session is a type of mini session but documents a child's milestones as they grow. This would include their first year when they are holding their head up during tummy time, sitting unassisted, standing while holding on, and 1 yr, and then yearly as well. The milestone session will be focusing solely on the child and includes a full edited gallery!
  • How can I ensure the best experience?
Trust me when it comes to a time of day and location! I have spent a lot of time finding areas that work best for lighting and backdrop and guarantee you will love the finished product. I choose to shoot during "Golden Hour" which is around one hour before sunset. I know with younger children this can be late especially once the days get longer, so keep this in mind when booking the time of year. I have great success with younger children during later times and ask you to consider a later nap time and bringing snacks to bribe them if needed! Believe me, the golden hour is so beautiful and makes for gorgeous images! For reference: Winter Golden hour starts around 4:00-4:30pm Spring (before time change) golden hour starts around 5:30pm Spring (after time change) golden hour starts around 6:30-7:00pm Summer golden hour starts around 7:30-8:00pm Fall golden hour starts around 6:00-7:00pm
  • What if my kid doesn't want to coorperate?
I am used to chasing around kids during my sessions and love capturing their natural interactions and expressions. I have learned tricks to get little kids to engage in the session as well. I will always try to get the "grandma shot" of everyone look but my approach is to capture the love, emotion and connection between you and yours.
  • Can I purchase all of the images you took during my session?
Simply put, no. I don't ever release RAW images or those that I have not edited to my style. The images I release are my artwork, if you will, and I put a lot of effort into selecting the best images in your final gallery! You will have the right to print images where you want, but no editing, cropping or altering is allowed.
  • Do you have outfits and props or do I need to bring my own?
I have tons of hats, headbands, pants, outfits, wraps and props that I know will photograph well for the session. I will ask if you have colors you wish to incorporate in the session and will pull sets to coordinate with those! If you have something special or sentimental you want me to use, please let me know ahead of time so I can plan, but I love to use those to make the session personal to you!
  • How soon should I book a newborn session?
It is never too soon to be in touch to book your newborn session! I book newborn sessions when baby is 5-10 days old to ensure the sleepy and squishy poses shown in my portfolio! I book your due date initially, then you contact me when baby makes his/her arrival, when we will then select the actual date for the session.
  • What does a newborn mini session include?
A mini newborn session is a shorter session meant to focus solely on your new bundle of joy! It will be about an hour in length and will include one beanbag backdrop and a couple props with different poses, then you will have a gallery of images to choose your favorite 8 images in which you will get the print release for those images. It does not include parent, family or sibling images. If you wish to include those, please book the full newborn session!
